ICNZ Conference 2026: Wired for Resilience

We were proud to be a Gold Sponsor of the Insurance Council of New Zealand (ICNZ) Conference, held in Auckland on 4 June 2026.

Representing McLarens at the event were Andrew Brooke and Alex van Rensburg, who joined more than 400 delegates from across the insurance industry, government, and related sectors.

This year's conference theme, "Taking on Risk: Building Resilience Together," focused on New Zealand's increasing exposure to weather-related risks and the importance of collaboration between government, industry, and communities to strengthen resilience and help maintain access to insurance for New Zealanders.

A key message throughout the conference was that the decisions made today around planning, development, and infrastructure will shape New Zealand's future insurability for decades to come. Discussions highlighted the importance of proactive risk management, resilient infrastructure, informed planning decisions, and a deeper understanding of risk exposure to support sustainable insurance outcomes.

The conference featured keynote presentations from Hon. Nicola Willis, Minister of Finance, Rt. Hon. Chris Hipkins, Leader of the Opposition, and Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown, alongside a range of industry leaders and experts who shared insights into the challenges and opportunities facing New Zealand's insurance sector.

ICNZ 2026 McLarens NZ

Throughout the day, our team enjoyed connecting with delegates and discussing the evolving risk landscape facing New Zealand. Our exhibition booth attracted strong interest, with many attendees stopping by to learn more about McLarens. As in previous years, our merchandise proved popular with conference attendees and was quickly snapped up throughout the day.

The Buzz Wire Challenge was a standout attraction, drawing a steady stream of participants throughout the conference. Even after all prize packs had been claimed, attendees continued lining up to test their skills. Seven participants successfully completed the course without making contact, with speed appearing to be the key to success.

The first five winners took home prize packs featuring a bottle of wine and a selection of McLarens merchandise.

We would like to thank ICNZ for hosting another successful conference and everyone who visited our booth. We look forward to continuing the conversations around risk, resilience, and the future of insurance in New Zealand.
