Red Noses, Big Impact

We are proud to get behind Red Nose Day because it supports life-changing research that improves the health of tamariki across Aotearoa. This year, thanks to our staffs enthusiastic participation, we donated $730 to Cure Kids to help fund this vital work.

The need is very real. Each year in New Zealand:

  • 40,000 children are admitted to hospital for preventable illnesses

  • 500 families experience the loss of a baby through stillbirth

  • 150 children are diagnosed with a form of cancer

  • One third of acute hospitalisations for children are due to respiratory conditions

  • One in five young people report serious psychological distress

  • 188 children are hospitalised with rheumatic fever and heart disease

Friday 25th July was Red Nose Day, Cure Kids’ biggest fundraising appeal of the year. You may have seen the iconic little red nose before. It adds a bit of fun but it also represents something much bigger. Thanks to support from people across the country, Cure Kids has been able to fund important breakthroughs in child health, including better care for children living with serious conditions, earlier diagnosis of illness, and new ways to treat and even cure a wide range of health issues.

Getting everyone involved

We wanted to make it easy for people all over the country to join in, so we ran a “Guess How Many Red Noses in this photo” challenge.

How many can you spot? Take a close look at the photo below and make your guess.

For every guess entered, McLarens made a donation to Red Nose Day. Every guess truly made a difference.

Was your guess right?

There was a wide variety of guesses, but the correct number of red noses was 37.
