Yesterday, we hosted a thought leadership session at the Viaduct Yacht Club in Auckland, bringing together clients and industry professionals to delve into the complex world of marine claims. With New Zealand’s extensive 15,000 km coastline, marine claims are a significant focus for us, and we’re proud to have the expertise and experience to manage and adjust these claims with precision.

Our event featured a series of engaging presentations from leading experts across the industry.

  Simon shared valuable insights into the critical role the Coastguard plays in marine loss situations, highlighting the operational challenges and the importance of timely intervention during emergencies.

• Colin Hunter, Hesketh Henry: "Problems in Modern Cargo Claims: Fermenting Fruit, Languishing Logs, and Sinking Ships"
  Colin’s presentation explored the intricacies of modern cargo claims, focusing on the unique challenges posed by perishable goods, delays, and the inherent risks in maritime transport.

• Martin Croucher, McLarens: "Hull not only a place in England: How to keep the ocean out of your boat"
  Our own Martin Croucher provided an in-depth look at hull protection, sharing best practices and strategies to prevent water ingress, which is a common issue that can lead to significant damage.

The afternoon concluded with a relaxed networking session, where we enjoyed nibbles and drinks while discussing the day’s insights. The Viaduct Yacht Club proved to be a fitting venue, offering a scenic backdrop that complemented the marine-focused discussions.
